About the Firm

A small partnership with a long record in British Columbia

Charlton & Associates has developed commercial and industrial property in British Columbia and Western Canada for more than thirty years.

We secure and prepare the site, and resolve the issues that stand in the way, so that the business that needs it can build.

The partnership is deliberately small. Each of its four partners carries a discipline: land development, institutional development and capital, law, and engineering. Between them they cover a project from the first conversation with a user to the day it opens.

We hold projects through single-purpose companies, which is ordinary practice for developers. Cordova Way Properties Ltd. is one of them. The track record sits with the partners, not with the company.

We are British Columbians, and we have built our careers here, from Campbell River and Langley to Prince George and Whitehorse.

Michelle Charlton

Principal

Economics with Honours, Simon Fraser University

Michelle has developed commercial and industrial property across British Columbia and into the Yukon for her whole career, for and with national and international covenants including the Jim Pattison Group, London Drugs, Starbucks, Canada Post and several Canadian chartered banks.

In Terrace she worked with the City’s Development Services department on the reconfiguration of the Tim Hortons drive-through and the adjacent oil change facility. She leads the group’s external relationships and its current work in Merritt.

Dan Walsh

Partner

Oxford University, 1973

Dan spent 28 years with Grosvenor, one of the world’s largest international property development companies. He began as development manager in Vancouver in 1979, where his work included the 1,200-acre Annacis Island industrial park in Delta, one of the largest industrial projects in Western Canada.

He went on to lead Grosvenor Atlantic in the United States as President, and then Grosvenor Capital, the group’s capital investment division. He served 20 years on the board of UBC Property Trust and was Vice President of the Urban Development Institute.

Mark Tindle

Partner

Bachelor of Laws, UBC, 1977. Called to the Bar of British Columbia, 1978

Mark practised at Douglas Symes & Brissenden, one of Western Canada’s oldest law firms, in real estate and development, and handled British Columbia real estate matters for Ford Motor Company.

He joined the partnership on retiring from practice and has invested and developed with it since 2008.

John Bentley

Partner

Chemical and Biological Engineering, UBC, 2005. Commerce in Finance and Real Estate, UBC, 2011

John has worked in commercial sales and leasing at Cushman & Wakefield, in real estate advisory at Public Works and Government Services Canada, and as a project engineer designing custom industrial materials. As senior sales manager at a British Columbia manufacturer, he grew sales fiftyfold over five years.

He completed MIT Professional Education’s program in applied AI and machine learning in 2025, and carries the group’s engineering and technical analysis.
